Black Elders' Appreciation Day is now officially recognized on the third Saturday in LA County, thanks to the support of our movement advocates and architects.

The day recognizes and honors the invaluable contributions of Black elders, while also serving as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges they face and advocate for their well-being and dignity.

Carlene A. Davis, co-founder of Sistahs Aging with Grace & Elegance (SAGE), was recently featured in a Black Voice News article discussing the Sankofa Elders Project. The piece highlights Davis’s work in launching the Black Eldering Bill of Rights, a framework designed to enhance the care, dignity, and well-being of Black elders and their caregivers.
